Short sleeve golf polos in a polyester-spandex knit that dries fast and carries a UPF figure on the label, in stripes, jacquard texture, print and one cut with a chest pocket.
You are choosing between four looks and one fabric. The stripe is the loud one and it is the widest part of the shelf. The jacquard is a texture knitted into a single colour, which reads plain from six feet and has something going on up close. The print is the one people either love or walk past, and the pocket cut is the only one here with somewhere to put a scorecard pencil. The knit underneath them is the same idea in every case: polyester with a little spandex for give, cut loose enough through the chest that a swing does not drag the hem out of the waistband. Most of these carry UPF 30 or better, which The Skin Cancer Foundation calls very good protection, and it is a property of the cloth rather than a promise about your afternoon: pull the same shirt tight over a shoulder or get it wet and it protects less than it did dry and loose. The run goes to 5XL on part of the shelf, further than the rest of the site.
Prices are the figures from our last update, and we refresh them on a schedule, which is the least glamorous part of care from Michel Rouen, and the figure at the till is the one that counts.
06Before you order
Whether the collar stands up after a wash, what the UPF number knitted into these actually covers, and how the run goes past XL.
That is what the collar construction is for and it is the part people judge on the fourth wear rather than the first. A knit collar goes soft when the yarn at the fold gives up. These are finished so the fold holds, and the practical test is whether it still sits up after a wash and a night on a hanger. If yours does not, we would rather hear about it than not.
A darker colourway and a finer stripe. Every shirt on this shelf moves sweat off you at the same rate, because the knit is the same, but drying fast and not showing a line down the back are two different properties. Navy, black and the darker heathers show the least, and a pale two-tone shows the most.
The solids and the jacquards, easily: they read as a plain knit shirt and nothing on them announces a course. The large prints and the two-tone blocks are golf shirts and look like golf shirts, which for some men is exactly the point and for others is the reason to pick a different colourway.
